Where is Currigee?

Currigee is located on South Stradbroke Island – in the beautiful Moreton Bay of South East Queensland.

South Stradbroke Island

Approximately 1 hours drive from the Brisbane GPO and only minutes by water from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast and the Coolangatta airport.

There is no public access to the island – transport is usually by private boat, or, for most of our guests we recommend Zane’s Water Taxi – its service is led by Steve and can offer 24 hours access to anything touched by water on the Gold Coast. Contact him on 0404905970.

Currigee is surrounded by native bushland with white sand dunes and the Pacific Ocean to the east, and on the western side the magnificence and beauty of the Broadwater – gateway to the Gold Coast and the Pacific Ocean.

Currigee is a unique destination – there is no other sand island within an hour of the Brisbane GPO. South Stradbroke Island is one of Australia’s unique sand islands as is the world famous Fraser Island.

South Stradbroke is a totally natural experience an undeveloped island with a fascinating array of flora and fauna. In fact South Stradbroke Island is the only natural habitat of the native Golden Wallaby.
